Motivation - How to Stay Determined in All Situations

For many of us, our determination can be our guide and our inspiration. We may have come up with a unique goal or we may be trying to achieve a goal that is more challenging than we had expected. No matter where you are or what you're working on, your ultimate goal is always the same-getting things done and becoming successful. However, what keeps us motivated at times is the thought of accomplishing our goal. For most people, that goal is usually to become financially independent. Here are a few tips on how to stay determined when you set lofty goals.

You've heard the saying, "If you want something bad enough, you will accomplish it." There's a big reason for that. Staying motivated is about setting and reaching a goal and staying determined is about consistently doing the things that keep you motivated. When you use smart goals as your guide, you'll know just what to do and when to do it.

A smart goal is one that you can easily accomplish within a short time. If you were working on writing an essay, you probably don't have a great deal of time to sit down and write a master-round-accomplished novel. Yet, if you set the goal to just write an outline of your new goal-and then make sure to do everything that you need to do in a very short time-you will stay determined to reach your new goal.

Setting short-term goals can be just as important as achieving your long-term goals. A common mistake is to set goals that are too-general. "I will be in a new business in two years" is too general and doesn't really make a positive difference in your life. You must specify a specific time frame for your goal. By doing this, you will be able to stay determined and motivated.

achieving goals gives meaning to your life. It gives you the motivation to reach your next level. It also gives you a clear direction to your life. Here are some ways how to stay determined:

- Set your goals in concrete terms. A smart goal will be one that is specific to a specific time frame. For instance, you will not be happy with reaching your fitness goals in ten weeks. Therefore, you should have a goal that has a more defined beginning and end date. A smart goal gives meaning to your life.

- Stay motivated. Achieving a goal gives you the motivation to keep on trying. The motivation needs to be constant. In other words, it needs to be strong enough that it doesn't waver when you are having setbacks. In other words, the goal must have a positive difference it makes to your life.

- Schedule your daily and weekly goals. Prioritize your tasks. Be sure to set up an appropriate time to do each goal. If you want to lose weight, your first priority is to exercise. Afterward, you can add dieting into your weekly schedule if you are ready. With a positive difference in your life, you will be determined to achieve more.

- Learn how to make simple, deep motivational statements. Make a statement for yourself like this: "I am determined to achieve my goal for the future." It gives meaning to your commitment. It gives meaning to the commitments that you have made. It shows your commitment to doing something about your health.

- Learn to focus your attention on the tasks at hand. With the deep motivational centers of your brain, you are motivated to focus on the tasks at hand so that you stay determined to do what is necessary. Your willpower is strengthened by the intensity of what you are doing. Your concentration is improved by the clear direction provided by your concentration.

- Learn how to set s.m.r.t. goals. They are important motivators. They give you a reason to stay determined. They also give you an opportunity to review and revise your goals so that they are in line with your current circumstances and future plans.

Learning how to stay determined is part of having the motivation to get something done. You need to have the strong willpower to follow through with the goal that you set. Your motivation grows as you work toward your goal. The ultimate reward is getting your goal achieved.
