what is smartphone

What is a smartphone? A smartphone is simply a portable computer which combines both mobile and web-based application's functions in one device. Smartphones are used by everyone, from business professionals to students, from the early risers to the late night owls, from the techno geek to the heavy user. A smartphone possesses the same sharp functionality of a personal computer but at a fraction of the cost.

In order to use a smartphone, you don't need to download any software because it comes pre-loaded with the most popular applications, which you can freely download and use. It is very useful to carry a memory card, or a compact card reader because the size of the smartphone device is so small, so you don't have the liberty to carry a lot of data with you in the form of files. This is why the first smartphone was released with just 8MB of memory, which is quite a large amount considering today's phones that have hundreds of gigabytes of memory. Because of this limitation, the applications on the smartphone must be downloaded from the websites that have an application directory. These websites have developed software applications, which link a particular smartphone model to its corresponding web browsing environment.

To enhance your smartphone usage, you can always download certain apps, which help in making your tasks more efficient. For example, you can always download certain apps to keep your GPS enabled whenever you are travelling. This helps you find out where you currently are, while on the go. Some apps enable you to manage your calendars, contacts and email, so that you never miss a date again. Another very useful feature that enables you to make the most of your smartphone usage is the usage of social media apps, which help in sharing your photos and other multimedia contents with your friends in the blink of an eye.
